A youth Gathering was held in front of the District School in Barisal on Monday, January 13, 2025, with the slogan “A New Year’s Dream: 100% Renewable Energy for Bangladesh”. The rally was jointly organized by PRANTOJON, Clean, and BWGED with the slogan “We Dream: 100% Renewable Energy is Possible in Bangladesh”. The theme was “We Dream: 100% Renewable Energy is Possible in Bangladesh”. The rally was chaired by CAB Secretary Mr. Ranjit Dutta to raise awareness about the importance of renewable energy in Bangladesh.
Md. Touhedul Islam Shahazada, Executive Director of Prantojon said that Bangladesh can reduce its dependence on fossil fuels by using renewable energy sources. Renewable energy is the only effective solution to address the current environmental crisis and challenges posed by climate change. By installing solar panels and other renewable energy sources in every home in Bangladesh, a sustainable future can be achieved. Renewable energy will protect our environment and create employment opportunities across the country, including in rural areas.
Subhankar Chakraborty, a member of the Barisal Ecology and Development Forum, said that the people of Barisal are interested in and support the use of renewable energy. The speakers emphasized that it is very important not only for environmental protection but also for the economic development of our country and the improvement of the quality of life of the people.
Khorshed Alam, Executive Director of Arohi, said that today’s youth rally has increased awareness among the local people about the need for renewable energy and its benefits. This initiative will encourage the people of Bangladesh to adopt renewable energy and create an eco-friendly future for the country. He added that more such campaigns and programs should be conducted in the future to expand the use of renewable energy in every region of the country and ensure sustainable development.
